Van der Valk Jangada Begins Sea Trials
Van der Valk has started sea trials for the custom 35.9-metre yacht Jangada following her launch from the yard’s Waalwijk facilities in November 2025. The trials mark the next phase of commissioning ahead of a scheduled 2026 delivery and will validate the vessel’s performance, systems integration and onboard comfort targets set during the build.
The programme is significant for the yard because Jangada is a bespoke project incorporating client-driven changes from earlier iterations of the same name. Her progress will influence final sign-off timings and any fine-tuning required before handover to an owner who has an established relationship with Van der Valk.

Steel hull, aluminium superstructure and insulation
The naval architecture responds directly to the owner’s brief for an additional deck and higher levels of noise and vibration attenuation. To meet those requirements Van der Valk specified a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure, combined with targeted structural treatments and extensive sound insulation throughout the vessel.
Those engineering choices were also influenced by planned modifications to the owner’s home berth in the Bay of St Tropez, which affected loading and draft considerations. The material selection and insulation strategy aim to balance durability, stiffness and acoustic comfort while accommodating the raised deck profile.

Family-focused layout with gym, jet-stream pool
Interior and deck arrangements have been developed to support a growing family, with a full‑beam owner’s suite located forward on the main deck and lower‑deck cabins customised for the owner’s children and grandchildren. Interiors employ whitewashed wood detailing and what the yard describes as “architectural functionality,” prioritising clear circulation and family use.
On the upper decks, notable amenities include a dedicated gym, 2.6‑metre‑high ceilings in key living spaces and large windows to maximise natural light and sightlines. A jet‑stream pool on the flybridge measures 4.5 metres long by 1.5 metres deep, providing a compact but active water feature designed for both exercise and entertainment.

Repeat client collaboration and delivery plans 2026
This Jangada is the third yacht of that name commissioned by the same owner, who previously owned 25‑metre and 32‑metre Jangadas; the 32‑metre was nominated for the World Superyacht Awards in 2020. All three builds were developed in collaboration with Van der Valk and designers Nick Top and Guido de Groot, continuing a long‑standing client–shipyard partnership that has informed the project brief and execution.
With sea trials underway and delivery slated for 2026, attention will turn to final commissioning and the owner’s fit‑out requirements. Van der Valk also has five yachts on order or under construction, including its largest custom superyacht to date, the 47.8‑metre Project Zen, indicating sustained production activity at the yard as Jangada moves toward handover.
